We offer online booking
We offer online booking for our shepherd’s hut. Our minimum stay is 2 nights – unfortunately, we don’t offer single-night stays, because we clean extensively between visitors. You can check the dates and prices, and book online below. Just enter the date you’d like to arrive, and the date you plan to depart. If those dates are booked you’ll be able to which dates are free.
After that, you’ll be redirected to a booking platform called ‘Freetobook’, which allows you to pay by card. To confirm your online booking a 20% deposit is taken using Stripe, our payment system. The balance is due a month before you arrive. Don’t worry, we’ll email you a payment link about 35 days before your arrival. You can also book online for our holiday cottage on site which sleeps 4, if the dates you want are not available. Find out more about Rose Cottage.
We pre-authorise your payment card for £100 as a damage deposit, on arrival. We don’t actually take the funds from you, but we simply ‘hold’ them for the duration of your stay and released them after your departure as long as there is no damage or excessive cleaning. Please see our terms and conditions here.
Celebrating a Special Occasion?
If you’d like a cake to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, then we can put you in touch with a local cake maker. We also have details of local florists. We can also supply an ice bucket and ice free of charge if you need it. Just ask for details.

Directions
Please note, our village is on one postcode. From A64 Eastbound (towards Scarborough) after the Malton bypass you’ll pass Rillington Fields. As you enter Rillington there is a 30mph sign. You will pass a small car garage on your left. You are about 250 metres from the turn-off to Thorpe Bassett. Just after the bus shelter turn right into Collinson’s Lane. Continue along the lane for almost ½ mile past the fields. Just after the bend you come to a 30mph sign as you enter Thorpe Bassett.
Opposite the brick Thorpe Bassett village sign, turn right into Oak Lodge (not the farm track next to us!). There is a bench outside. Once through the gates please park to the right of the garage door. If you arrive when traffic is heavy then you might come into Thorpe Bassett down the hill at the opposite end of the village. The village is in two halves so continue past all the houses, farmland and the church. We are the last property on the left.
